The Baby Room

The Baby Room

The Baby Room is designed to meet the needs of young children by providing a play area, annexed sleep room, separate kitchen, and changing facilities.

The staff in the Baby Room provide individual care and attention to ensure that the baby's constant and changing needs are met and work with parents to promote continuity from the home to the Nursery.

Parents receive a daily record, keeping them informed of how their baby has been throughout the day. A member of the Baby Room staff is also available at the beginning and end of each day.

The Baby Room follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, which includes a wide variety of experiences, opportunities and activities to promote development. The key people take regular observations of the baby's achievements, enabling them to form plans based on each baby's likes and dislikes. These observations are then recorded in the baby's record of achievements.

The babies all have the opportunity to go into our extensive outdoor play area. The staff also take them on walks within The Peterborough School grounds.

Our babies are encouraged to be independent and at meal times they help to serve their own food onto their plates. We also introduced 'Dream Coracles' in 2015 which are low level beds, allowing the babies to get themselves into bed when they are ready for a sleep.
