Over 2000 young people aged 16-24 attended the Skills Service's 'Mission Possible' Careers Festival, held at TPS last week.

A wide range of over 130 business and service providers exhibited throughout the grounds and buildings.  Visitors were also treated to live music and dance displays on the outdoor stage, giving the event a lively, carnival atmosphere.  'CV Bootcamps' were available throughout the day and seminars covering apprenticeships, creative careers, university life and interview techniques were very popular.  A Teacher Zone and 28 'Have A Go' activities meant there was definitely something for everyone.

The largest careers and skills event in the East of England meant that for the first time, the School had on site a Gazelle helicopter, double decker bus, Formula 1 car, a planetarium and NASA Rocket Scientist at the same time!

Feedback from visitors and exhibitors was excellent:  Rebecca Willis of the University of Lincoln commented: “I thought that the venue was great and created a wonderful festival atmosphere, quite unlike most of the careers events which we attend! There was certainly a buzz and a huge range of stands which seemed very engaging to the students.”

Chief Petty Officer, R P Gray, of the Royal Navy, said: “For us as Royal Navy recruiters it was invaluable to get so many youngsters in one place, this is by far the highlight of our outreach for the year and we would love to attend next year.”

Springwood High School brought a cohort of 300 students and teacher Tom Callow said “Many thanks and congratulations on such a fantastic event. The kids were so positive about everything they saw.”
