The peterborough School Alumni - 2015 Newsletter - page 6

A message from the Secretary
Welcome to the 2015
Newsletter. I hope you
enjoy reading every-
body’s news and
catching up with what
is happening at the
school. Many alumni
have asked for elec-
tronic versions of the
Newsletter and have
suggested we should
be moving to a ‘paperless’ medium. Whilst I
completely agree that from an environmental
point of view, this is the most responsible way
forward, I’m afraid that would mean that many
of you would not receive the Newsletter as we
do not have email addresses for all of you.
This year, we will be adding the Newsletter to
the School’s website in the alumni section so
you will be able to access it there at any time.
In the future I would like to be able to email the
Newsletter to you all in addition to having it on
the Website so can I please make a request
that you
email me or mail to me your
updated information
, in particular your email
address so that we can send information to
you electronically.
After a very busy year at school, we had the
pleasure of officially opening The Angela Axe
Garden on the last day of term in July ’15.
Thank you to everyone who sent in a donation,
your generosity is greatly appreciated.
This garden area now provides
the Senior School pupils with a
much needed social space
at break and lunchtime and is a
stunning transformation of the
former boarding house garden. The PTG
also donated £12,000 towards the outdoor
auditorium/classroom which is used by both
Prep and Senior classes.
It is always a real treat to welcome former
pupils back to the School and we had an
impromptu Reunion during our Open Day in
September when Lowri Murphy and some
friends from ’90 and ’92 came to the School for
a visit – for most of them it was the first time
back since they had left! The group amused
and entertained many of the prospective
parents and our current teachers with their
stories and shrieks of laughter as they revisited
the School and their memories! It was a lovely
surprise for Ros Mayle, Head of Geography,
who taught many of the girls and remembered
every one of them!
