laptops, iPads and interactive whiteboards. The
final phase of the conversion of the Boarding
House into new classrooms is now complete and
our newly created outdoor space is a stunning
transformation of the former boarding house
garden. We welcomed Mrs Angela Axe, former
member of staff, back in to School on the last day
of the year to formerly open the new garden.
We welcomed a number of new staff to the
School during the last academic year including
Mrs Rivers as Head of Pastoral Care in the Senior
School. In the Preparatory School we welcomed
Miss Chappell and Mrs Quy, and Miss Adams,
Miss Morris, Mrs Potbury, and Mrs Scott to the
Senior School.
At the end of the year we said farewell to Mrs
Parkinson, Year 5 teacher, and Mrs Coulson,
Head of Business Studies and Economics. Mrs
Boyle who worked as Reception Class teacher
also left to become a paramedic and we wished
her well in her change of career.
Revd Watts has been ill since last Christmas and
sadly is not able to return to work at the School.
We continue to wish him a speedy and successful
recovery from his illness. We are currently
recruiting a new Chaplain.
Sadly Mrs Kim Clatworthy, who was working as a
teaching assistant in the Preparatory and Senior
Schools was ill all last year and sadly lost her
battle against her illness during the Summer. We
will be paying our respects by creating a memorial
to her work here.
Finally, after another successful year, I would
like to thank again all of the staff who have
worked very hard to deliver so many wonderful
experiences for our boys and girls this year.
I hope that you enjoy reading this year’s
newsletter and we look forward to learning of your
news and seeing you in the near future.
sports locally, while also representing the District,
County, Region and Nation.
Music continues to go from strength to strength,
with all our choirs representing the School within
the community. We were delighted to be invited to
sing Evensong at Peterborough Cathedral again
and members of the Chapel Choir were privileged
to be invited to sing at Milton Hall for Sir Philip and
Lady Isabella Naylor-Leyland. Special mention
must go to Upper Sixth student now Westwoodian,
Rebekah Baugh, on her award of the Laura Marco
prize, following her Distinction in her recent Grade
8 Flute examination with the highest score in the
UK and Ireland.
Boys and girls continue to hone their craft on
the stage and we once again celebrated great
success at the Peterborough Drama Festival. Well
done also to the pupils who again took part in the
Peterborough Primary Dance Festival, entertain-
ing audiences with energy and enthusiasm and
we were delighted to host the Primary Schools’
Country Dancing Festival in the Summer term for
the first time.
Outside of the classroom pupils enjoyed a range
of other trips and visits both at home and abroad.
In addition to the cultural visits to France and
Germany and the very successful ski trip to Italy,
pupils have taken to the outdoors, whether
through Beavers, Cubs and Scouts or through the
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award; it has been heart-
warming to receive such glowing comments from
those who have met our children.
Community spirit is no more evident than in our
charitable work and this year we supported a
number of worthy causes, raising over £13,000 in
total, including £8,344 for the Peterborough Area
Down’s Syndrome Group. Our Appeals Day in
March broke all records with over £3,800 being
raised in just one day!
We continue to invest in our beautiful estate and in
March the governing body agreed the purchase of
an acre of land adjoining the back pitch. The Sixth
Form have appreciated the newly renovated Sixth
Form facilities and throughout the School, boys
and girls have benefitted from further investment in Headmaster
