Chairman, Ms Lynne Ayres, LLB

A former pupil of the School with longstanding connections in Peterborough, Lynne is the Chairman of the Governing Body.  She is a full time lawyer having graduated from the law school at Bristol University and Managing Director at Hunt & Coombs Solicitors LLP on Thorpe Road.  She lives in Wansford and worships at Peterborough Cathedral and is a popular and well-respected member of the local community.  Lynne is also an Executive Board Member and Fellow of Woodard Schools.

Mrs Alana Arculus

Alana  is a graduate of St Hilda's College, Oxford, where she read Politics, Philosophy and Economics.  She was an Andersen Scholar and began her career as a management consultant with Deloitte.  Since 2008, she has worked in the Insurance Industry at local company BGL Group. 

She grew up in Stamford and currently lives off Thorpe Road in Peterborough.  Alana is married to a City Councillor and her two children both attend the Nursery.

Mr Chris Beard

Chris is a successful businessman whose two daughters were both Head Girls at PHS. He lives in Westwood Park Road and is keen to be involved in activities at School; having served as a governor for many years, he is now co-opted on to the governing body.  He is a Woodard Fellow.

Mrs Pamela Dalgliesh

Pamela grew up in West Sussex and moved to Wiltshire when she married.  When the family moved to Peterborough in 1997, her son Ben was educated at King’s School, Ely and her three daughters at Peterborough High.  Pamela became a committee member of the PTG and was its Chair for five years.  Outside of School, Pamela remains involved with fundraising for several groups, including Macmillan Cancer Support, Save The Children and The Alzheimers Society.

Mrs Lydia Frisby

Lydia was educated at a Woodard School, St. Mary and St. Anne’s School, in Abbot’s Bromley. She had two daughters at Peterborough High School and was on the Parent-Teacher Guild Committee.  She lives in Fleet Hargate and her husband is a Chartered Surveyor and Auctioneer in nearby Holbeach.  She networks for the School in Lincolnshire and the Fens and has introduced several parents from that area.  She represents the Governors on both the Child Protection/Welfare and Boarding House Committees.

Mrs Katie Hart

Katie Hart was educated in Huntingdon and Peterborough and went on to gain an Honours degree in Philosophy at Durham. Before starting her own business, Rhetonic, in 2008, Katie was Director of Cambridgeshire Enterprise Services and Marketing and Customer Relations Manager at Business Link for Cambridgeshire. In her spare time, Katie is a volunteer listener for The Samaritans and raises money for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity. She walked across the Jordanian desert to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and is a Business Mentor for the Prince’s Trust. Katie addressed the audience and presented the prizes at Speech Day in 2008.

The Reverend Raymond Hemingray LLB

Raymond is a solicitor and has been the Registrar of the Diocese of Peterborough since 1974. He was ordained in 2007, and is the Curate of Castor with Sutton and Upton with Marholm. His daughter, Caroline, attended Peterborough High School for ten years until 2005, and was Head Girl during her final year. He lives in Longthorpe.  He represents the Governors on the Nursery Subcommittee.

Prof Christopher Howe ScD, MA, FLS

Chris Howe is a Professor of Biochemistry at Cambridge University. He is also a Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he directs studies for preclinical medical students. He is a Woodard Fellow who joined our Council through the Woodard Corporation. He has spoken here at evenings about Oxbridge Entrance and Higher Education.

Mrs Janet Mark

Janet is the former Headmistress of Hethersett Old Hall School in Norwich.  She is an associate member of the Girls’ Schools Association and also an inspector of independent schools.  She is a Woodard Fellow and has recently become a Trustee of the Woodard Academies' Trust.  She lives near St Albans, where she is a guide at the Cathedral.  She is also a volunteer for 'Family Lives', a charity which supports families through its helpline and parenting classes.

Mr Suresh Menon

Suresh whose daughter attended the School is a Vice President of TCS, an Indian outsource company which provides IT solutions and service delivery to a large number of firms in commerce and industry including for example insurance. He was appointed CEO of Diligenta (one of the UK's largest providers of administration and customer services to the UK Life & Pensions) which is based in Peterborough in February 2008. He holds a Master’s Degree in Physics and a Master of Technology degree in Computer Science.

Mrs Elizabeth Payne

A former pupil of Peterborough High School for eight years, Elizabeth then became Chairman of The Westwoodians’ Committee until joining the School Council in 2007. Elizabeth sits on the Marketing Subcommittee. Elizabeth is General Manager of a four star Country House Hotel in Leicestershire and lives in south Lincolnshire.

The Reverend Canon Bruce Ruddock

Bruce is Canon Precentor at Peterborough Cathedral and a Woodard Fellow. He is the Governor-link with the Cathedral and works with the choristers on a day-to-day basis. Bruce has worked in cathedrals for nearly a decade, prior to which he was a parish priest and in the 1990s served in Rome as the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Representative to the Vatican. He attended a Woodard school, where his father was Deputy Headmaster.

Mr Dickon Sandbach


Dickon is a Westwoodian, having attended the pre-prep school a ‘few’ years ago.  He lives in Stamford and is the senior partner of Moore Stephens Chartered Accountants in Peterborough.  In his professional life, he has experience of both the charitable and education sectors.  Dickon serves on the Finance and General Purposes Committee.

Deputy Chairman, Mr Peter Southern FRICS

Peter is a Chartered Surveyor and was a main board director of the largest industrial property owner in the UK. He is now a consultant working for Government, major PLCs, landowners and local authorities.  Away from the workplace, Peter has been a Governor of Newcastle upon Tyne Church High School, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Visitors of HMP Acklington, and a Director of South Northumberland Cricket Club.

Air Commodore Tug Wilson, RAF (retd)

From his role as Director of Logistics Business Development in the RAF and since as a senior business consultant, for the last ten years Tug has introduced many fresh ideas for the School’s business and financial development. He is ex-Chairman of the Council and now sits on the General Purposes and Finance committee. He is also a Woodard Fellow.
