Mirae is Pride of Peterborough

Budding entrepreneur, Mirae Unalkat of Year 5 has been awarded a 'Pride of Peterborough' award by the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.

Budding entrepreneur, Mirae Unalkat of Year 5 has been awarded a 'Pride of Peterborough' award by the Peterborough Evening Telegraph for his success in a competition run by supermarket giant, Tesco.  Mirae entered a competition about what Tesco should do with its Schools and Clubs programme, where groups can collect vouchers to exchange for computer or sports equipment.

Mirae came up with an idea as to how the collection of vouchers could be made much easier for schools and clubs and sent in a video application.  His idea was that when people finish their shopping they are told how many vouchers they have earned and asked which school or club they are collecting for.  Customers then nominate their preferred recipient or they can request that vouchers go into a general pool which is divided up between the clubs and schools.

Following his success with this, Mirae is now waiting to find out whether he has made it on to Tesco's first ever Kid's Board.  If he is successful with this, Mirae hopes to encourage the supermarket chain to introduce children's play areas into their stores when they meet in July this year.
